Remote-i is available in two versions, MODEM or STANDARD, booth very easy to use. The Modem version is connected to a power source and a phone line. It comes with its own internal modem of 14400 bps and is always ready for use. The Standard version requires an external modem in order to carry out the transmissions. We recommends for the Standard version the US Robotics 56k, not included.

The remote downloading of a Guard-i or Touch-i is done simply by placing the wand into Remote-i, which then dial a previously programmed number, starts the data transmission and notifies the user once the operation has been completed. In order to receive the data sent remotely from a Guard-i / Touch-i through Remote-i, the Remote-i Server software must be installed and running in the computer which, in receiving the data, will promptly send it to PROGuard-i (Guard-i's management software) or Touch-i management software. The computer receiving the downloaded information should have either a fax modem board or an external modem, which must also be compatible with the computer's operation system.

Remote-i does not have an internal memory or buffer, which means that all data read from a Guard-i or Touch-i is immediately sent to the computer, with no temporary storage; an important feature that guarantees no data will be lost.
